CMA names new Chief Operating Officer
Daniel Lambauer is set to join the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) as Chief Operating Officer in October, replacing the retiring Erik Wilson. Currently serving as Executive Director of Strategy and Resources at the National Audit Office (NAO), Lambauer oversees corporate services functions and acts as Chief Information Officer. His diverse background includes experience in academia, management consultancy, and the Civil Service. In his new role at the CMA, Lambauer will be responsible for managing teams within the Corporate Services directorate and collaborating closely with Chief Executive Sarah Cardell. Subject to appointment by the Secretary of State, he is expected to become an executive member of the CMA Board, reporting directly to Cardell.

CMA publish annual report
In the CMA's 2023-2024 report, they reflect on their strategy of focusing action on economic areas where competition and consumer protection face the most threat. The CMA considers their growth: using more of the tools at their disposal, creating new leadership roles, and conducting more open engagement to boost transparency. Their biggest highlight is that their work has reportedly delivered £20.3bn back to UK consumers over the last decade. Looking ahead, the CMA discusses their new additional responsibilities under the DMCC Act.
